Danielle Berry. BSc Hons, CAR, MTI, IFA, STO, KORE.

Director of the Lancashire Health and Well-Being Centre. C.I.C.

I have always taken an interest in the beauty and make up industry after leaving school. I progressed into further education, I attained NVQ LEVEL 2 & 3 Beauty therapy at Blackburn college, and then onto a BTEC PDQ Theatrical Media Make up course at Manchester college in 2000. I have worked in the Beauty industry for over 10yrs, in a wide range of settings from clinics, hotel’s spas and media.

I had a slight career change in 2009, when I was offered the opportunity to became a member of the promotional team at 107 the Bee radio station. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the opportunities this gave me to meet people from all walks of life; I in particular enjoyed the charity work we did.

In 2010 I changed direction again and moved into a more holistic environment studying NVQ LEVEL 3 Holistic & Spa Therapy but my interest was aimed more towards complementary therapy.  While caring for my terminal ill mother, I could see first-hand the benefits of the Complementary therapy and I wanted to learn more.  In 2011 I began my journey through higher education, this was one of the most daunting, proudest and rewarding experiences in my academic career. I graduated in 2014 with a 2.1 BSc Hons Degree in Complementary Medicine at Carlisle cathedral.

During my degree, I joined the company and became a student therapist as part of my work based learning, shortly after I was invited to join the team working as a core therapist. During my time, I have been inspired by the unique vision of the Lancashire Health and Well-Being Centre. I feel very fortunate to be a director in this beneficial enterprise and I am dedicated to providing the very best of care for all. I presently work full time as a therapist and couple this with several other roles; Student & Volunteer co-ordinator, and Events Co-ordinator. I am also responsible for blending all of the products used within our clinic, oils, creams etc, ensuring a safe and beneficial treatment for all our clients.

Our company believes in mentoring aspiring therapists and I have been responsible for the mentoring and supervision of students from University Centre at Blackburn College for the last four years. I also have a lovely group of volunteers who give their time assisting with the efficient running of the company.  I organise and co-ordinate all the events and activities, on and off site, providing workshops, demonstrations and therapy sessions. This enables a wide range of local communities to learn and experiences the benefits of complementary therapy.

My life has been enriched working in this field and I look forward to nurturing and watching the business grow.
